Can a Boob Job Ever Be Justified?

Many for one reason or another seem to have views strongly against any kind of plastic surgery, especially boob jobs. However when are such high, toxic beauty standards in society, then should we really exercise the judgement that we do. Though we do need to prioritize self love too

Why we Should try and Remain Optimistic about the Outcome of the Presidential Election:

Now I am not hitting out at Biden by suggesting that he doesn’t really intend to unite America, but rather in reality no politician, or political party is going to be able to impress everyone. As I am sure you are aware, many voted for Biden not because they are convinced by his policies, but rather their political views are more aligned to his, rather than Trumps. Or as I already said, they simply don’t like Donald Trump! Yet this line of reasoning can be contestable, as some may feel they cannot vote for something which may be “less bad” due to them endorsing policies which the voter still strongly opposes.

Internalized Sexism/Misogyny

We all know that Sexism refers to prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of sexes traditionally against women. While Misogyny refers to the hatred of women, stereo-typically exhibited by men in cases of unequal power balances in relationships, simply dissing women and in extreme cases sexual assault. But what on earth can “internalized misogyny”Continue reading “Internalized Sexism/Misogyny”

Feminists Can Wear Pink!

Hello so long time no hear right (sorry my soppy attempt of apologising for not posting in so long) but life has been pretty exhausting lately, with school work, having to move flat twice in less than two months, on top of paid work. Mental Health Romanisation: Birthed by Social Media or a Shadow Waiting to Emerge?

In the last few years, it has seemed like the internet has given birth to a culture of mental health romanization. Now whether you have seen this on tumblr, Instagram or now TikTok, it does seem rather strange. Because in recent years there has been so much success by those speaking out to reduce the stigma associated with mental health. While it is fair to judge that many of these people, would have had close experiences with mental health themselves. Yet there has been a significant, maybe unconscious, movement in the other direction, generally by those also likely to have experienced it. ‘But does this not at least mean that it will get more people talking? Not to mention “Increased awareness!” ‘ Maybe, but it is going to be completely counterintuitive when it is the wrong kind! But there is bound to be a reason for it…

Are the Teenage Years really the Best Years of your life?

“You are the Dancing Queen, feel the beat of the tambourine, Dancing Queen, young and sweet- Only Seventeen Oh ohhh”
Strutting down the streets on a Friday and Saturday night, with your group of thirty friends, to arrive at either at one of your local nightclubs (probably with a fake ID) or in more recent cases at a pub. Only to get smashed off your faces, to meet new amazing people and of course to have a wonderful time. Then once the weekend is over, you are back at college again, hanging about in the common room. You suddenly realise there is yet another test which you haven’t revised for, however you manage to somehow effortlessly pick up your pen and produce yet another essay worthy of an A. You head to netball practice later on in the evening, where of course you compete on a regional basis in the team you also spend your weekend nights out with! Then at the end of the day when you finally get a bit of time to yourself, you automatically open your Instagram account, which has at least 3000 followers, to check up on everybody else…

Why you Probably have been Failed by the Mental Health System

Why is it that if something feels wrong on the outside, then people pay so much attention, they become so concerned and they are so quick to find anyone who could potentially be a help, to help us to heal. However if something hurts on the inside then the response is rather much the opposite,Continue reading “Why you Probably have been Failed by the Mental Health System”

Free Speech vs Cancel Culture: Why not Listen?

Cancel Culture has dominated a lot off the media lately. Yet in spite off a lot off the crap which has been cancelled, there are many people who still advocate for freedom off speech. And while I would say that freedom of speech shouldn’t equate to freedom to saying something which could hurt someone, people do need to be educated.
