Girl Boss Feminism

Girlboss feminism. Sounds so empowering doesn’t it? Yet becoming a “girlboss” requires so much privilege, and even if someone does end up becoming one, how can we know if it can achieve any sort of real sense of happiness.

My Problem with Childrens Clothing

I am sure we have all seen slightly “grown up” children’s clothing. While it may seem rather inappropriate, it is also true that the market is only going to respond to what parents want. Nonetheless no one is going to want their children to be badly sexualised, therefore why does it happen so often?

“Chavs” and “Roadmen”- Really?

Ugh, I am sure you all know what a chav is, and by now I am sure you have seen the term “roadnam” being splashed around as well. Maybe you have sneered at someone sporting either of these styles (I know I am guilty). But should we really be using these terms in such a derogatory way>

Internalized Sexism/Misogyny

We all know that Sexism refers to prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination on the basis of sexes traditionally against women. While Misogyny refers to the hatred of women, stereo-typically exhibited by men in cases of unequal power balances in relationships, simply dissing women and in extreme cases sexual assault. But what on earth can “internalized misogyny”Continue reading “Internalized Sexism/Misogyny”

Things we all should have learned from LOCKDOWN

Read about what I feel I have learned personally from the prolonged experience of being in lockdown, and the crisis wholly. Meanwhile I feel many others may have a similar kind of perspective.

We need to put an end to modern Slavery!

In the last few weeks we have seen lockdown restrictions lifting all over England, where transmission rates are at least LOWER than before (though the extent varies depending on where you are). Black lives really do matter and we all have the right to protest; peacefully + to LEARN:

Hiya, so what I am writing about has been on mine, well all of our minds really, in the past couple of weeks. I wasn’t actually thinking of writing about this however as we have seen, many things have taken off in the last couple of days, and there really have been a huge rangeContinue reading “Black lives really do matter and we all have the right to protest; peacefully + to LEARN:”

Pride Month: What pride means to me and why it SHOULD be celebrated.

We are in Pride month, a month to well…celebrate “gay pride”. Usually this would be the time when many “pride marches” take place up and down the country, with streets filled with glitter, rainbows and partying… What is there not to love about that? However this year is going to be rather different. It isContinue reading “Pride Month: What pride means to me and why it SHOULD be celebrated.”

Why I call myself a feminist

It’s strange isn’t it, at the moment. Here we are at a stage where some people feel that what has set out to be achieved has been done so, therefore the word “feminism” is no longer required. Whilst others think that we still have miles further to go until we have a truly equal society.Continue reading “Why I call myself a feminist”

Has makeup seen its best days, or are its best days yet to come?

Ok, so once upon a time I remember when I would almost wear makeup religiously. I would almost literally apply it each and every day, trying to make sure to cover all of my blemishes over, enhance the way my eyes looked, whilst trying my best to make sure my eyebrows did not look likeContinue reading “Has makeup seen its best days, or are its best days yet to come?”
