Imagine for a moment what it would be like to be in possession of Old Money, therefore to you it is more than just a style, or fashion trend, but it is the lifestyle which you actually live. Hours on end playing tennis and gold in the expansive grounds of your stately home, not to mention the cute clothing, dogs and whatever else which comes with it. Now let me make another guess, you probably think that how people originally accumulated old money is pretty hideous, yet you are also either a younger millennial or a gen z, and when you came across the style on TikTok, you just couldn’t resist!

What’s Problematic About School Dresscodes?
It makes sense doesn’t it. For there to be something for children to wear, when they are incapable of choosing something that looks half decent and appropriate themselves. Even if that fails, and they somehow manage to make their outfit, or rather “uniform”, look inappropriate; then at least restrictions can be put on what theyContinue reading “What’s Problematic About School Dresscodes?”
Were They Right to Cancel Exams?
Sigh, Sixth form and school. The subject that anyone who would have been due to take A levels or GCSEs this summer would want to back away from. However this is pretty hard to avoid as exams have been cancelled for the second time in a row, just a couple of weeks after they wereContinue reading “Were They Right to Cancel Exams?”
The Glorification of the Soviet Union
So it is quite possible that you have heard people arguing against capitalism, maybe more so in recent years, rather than previously. I also think it is fair to say that many young people are especially opposed to capitalism, basically due to greater transparency enabling them to realise some of the horrors of in particularContinue reading “The Glorification of the Soviet Union”
Do Grades Really Matter?
Hellooo, so I am going to give you a bit of background information before I begin with the post. So currently I am in year 13, and recently we have received our predicted grades, which has led to many people, predicted higher than myself, being rather stressed and upset over theirs. And while they canContinue reading “Do Grades Really Matter?”
Are the Teenage Years really the Best Years of your life?
“You are the Dancing Queen, feel the beat of the tambourine, Dancing Queen, young and sweet- Only Seventeen Oh ohhh”
Strutting down the streets on a Friday and Saturday night, with your group of thirty friends, to arrive at either at one of your local nightclubs (probably with a fake ID) or in more recent cases at a pub. Only to get smashed off your faces, to meet new amazing people and of course to have a wonderful time. Then once the weekend is over, you are back at college again, hanging about in the common room. You suddenly realise there is yet another test which you haven’t revised for, however you manage to somehow effortlessly pick up your pen and produce yet another essay worthy of an A. You head to netball practice later on in the evening, where of course you compete on a regional basis in the team you also spend your weekend nights out with! Then at the end of the day when you finally get a bit of time to yourself, you automatically open your Instagram account, which has at least 3000 followers, to check up on everybody else…
Why you Probably have been Failed by the Mental Health System
Why is it that if something feels wrong on the outside, then people pay so much attention, they become so concerned and they are so quick to find anyone who could potentially be a help, to help us to heal. However if something hurts on the inside then the response is rather much the opposite,Continue reading “Why you Probably have been Failed by the Mental Health System”
Can our Stationery Fiasco be explained?
whenever I walk past somewhere like paperchase, I cannot resist taking a wander in and looking at all of the various pens, notepads and rubbers (as well as the Boris Johnson dog toys) just to see what they have on offer. But how healthy is our new found love of stationery?
Free Speech vs Cancel Culture: Why not Listen?
Cancel Culture has dominated a lot off the media lately. Yet in spite off a lot off the crap which has been cancelled, there are many people who still advocate for freedom off speech. And while I would say that freedom of speech shouldn’t equate to freedom to saying something which could hurt someone, people do need to be educated.
It has been nearly a year now since getting my GCSE results, and I still think that the new 1-9 grading system is shit
As I am sure you all know too well, this year the whole process of “grading” at the moment is a little bit up in the air. This is due to the pandemic, meaning that students weren’t able to be in school for quite a few months, and therefore they would not have been ableContinue reading “It has been nearly a year now since getting my GCSE results, and I still think that the new 1-9 grading system is shit”
