I Still Don’t Know What to Make of the Pandemic:

Most of us have an opinion one way or another. Some still believing that a lockdown is the only viable option, while others now strongly opposing it. Some have thought that strong lessons are to be learned from the pandemic, which could spark significant and hopefully positive change in the future. At this point, to admit you are not sure what to think is going to be slightly embarrassing, but surely I am not the only person who still doesn’t really know…

The Dreaded Lockdown

Knowing that a vaccine is on its way, it would be nice to think that the second lockdown we have experienced will be the last one as they will no longer be necessary. But come on! Realistically, come January there won’t have been many people at all who have have actually been vaccinated. Whilst Christmas will have passed, and we know that many are going to want to make the most of it, therefore we will be in the same position as to whether to have another lockdown or not…

Of course this lockdown would be different yet again, but the strong moral reasoning behind them is what all 3 lockdowns will have in common. Yet there will be others who feel that the consequences of lockdown are being sidelined, due to the fact that they cause things like the economy, people’s jobs and most importantly people’s mental health to suffer. This way where am I supposed to stand on it, when I don’t even know the long term affects would be either way?

So What Will This all Mean?

It would be nice to think that the pandemic will finally enable some people to realise that anything can happen to anyone at any time; whether it is relating to health or a job loss! Because everyone has been affected in such a short period, so you would think this could spark change… However judging from the way people bulk brought loo roll, twice, could suggest otherwise. Yet it would be nice to think that the result of the pandemic will teach the importance of being kinder to others…

Back to Normal?

Who remembers people saying they couldn’t wait to return to normal, back at the start of lockdown? Funny we were proven wrong, with statistically a significantly larger number of people saying they didn’t want that. This could be reasons such as personal comfort or deeper reasons such as not liking the current system we are in. Yet equally change could cause considerable fear to many…

So it is certainly true that covid has and will continue to change things, and I am pretty sure things will never return to quite like before. Yet who knows exactly how things will change…

  1. ♡ Simple version EveryOne; a virus is incurable as it mutates and strengthens our AutoImmune System…bacteria adapt to antibiotics; basically vaccine and other pharmaceutical products are all about making money

  2. I also don’t know what to make of this pandemic, I am uncertain about the future, I don’t know what to think. Will things go back to normal? I am not even sure what normal will mean, it has taken longer than I expected. Most of us we are like living in the dark, we doing all we can to stay positive, but the truth is, it’s really not easy.

    1. Definitely, no one knows what to think really. And I think the “new normal” will be very different and I am not referring to masks and social distancing here. And we are all trying our best, but it is not easy to be happy all the time when living through a pandemic.

  4. I don’t know what to think of this pandemic either. It seems that although we are closing restaurants and non-essential stores, the cases keep climbing. I can’t imagine that we’ll be in our houses for the next few months again!

  5. I think the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns had an extremely negative impact on many and a positive impact on some. I think overall the world needed to slow down and this pandemic provided that opportunity. But was it good for my mental health? Hell no! 🙈
Here’s hoping we all get the vaccine soon to be safe from this horrible disease. 😊
    2021 be good!

  6. I keep thinking back to March 2020 when it seemed like this was all still new, and while it seemed like a serious threat, most people were not taking it seriously. If we knew then what we know now, and could convince the entire world population (haha, I know that’s entirely unrealistic) to stay home and not interact with anyone else for a full 2 weeks, then the virus would run out of hosts and life could have been normal again by April.
I realize this is not realistic, and there are way too many variables to control here, but still. I think the more people there are who take this pandemic seriously, the more quickly we can return to “normal” – whatever the new normal will be. What a strange time to be a human. Schoolchildren of the future will read about the “Great Pandemic of 2020” and we can say “Yes, I remember those years!”

    1. Yeah, it will be quite funny in some ways when children hear about the pandemic. I agree that the more people who take it seriously, the sooner we will return to “normal”, yet some would rather return to normal right away in spite of the current severity of the pandemic.
